Burmese Muslims flee attacks

A new wave of communal violence, between the majority Buddhist Rakhine and the ethnic minority Rohingya Muslims, is tearing through Burma’s western Rakhine State. The United Nations estimates almost 30,000 people have now been displaced by the fighting, the vast majority of them Muslims. One Muslim who made it to safety said, “If we had stayed we would have been killed. This is ethnic cleansing.”
